Vincent Nettmann, Maropeng’s resident astronomer, is available to take delegates or guests on an extraordinary astronomical journey with Maropeng’s stargazing evenings Facilities include an award-winning visitor centre, a 24-bedroom 4-star hotel, conference facilities, an outdoor amphitheatre housing up to 10000 people, and budget accommodation, with separate conference facilities, at Hominin House and four restaurants. Our latest addition is an new park area name Stone Park. Adorned with indigenous trees and plants and exquisitely lit at night. It is the ideal venue for corporate events. Maropeng offers companies the option of special customised packages which can be arranged for groups. Any of these tours can be integrated into a package for a corporate. These can be tailored to include a braai at the hotel for example or enjoying sundowners at the Caves. The state-of-the-art conference facilities are housed in the Tumulus building in which the main exhibition is situated. Encompassing three conference rooms that can also be opened to house larger groups of up to 320 The versatile Tumulus building has expansive open areas that can be transformed from a blank canvas to a dramatic platform for product launches, events, corporate functions, exhibitions, displays and showcases. For events hosting more than 320 guests, a marquee can be set up in the grounds at Maropeng. Maropeng offer full catering from the kitchens of gastronomy trained Executive Chef – Peter Langa. Kosher and Halaal meals can also be arranged. With its breathtaking views of the Magaliesberg and Witwatersberg mountain ranges, the Tumulus Restaurant serves buffet lunches or plated menus, group size dependent. The restaurant deck can also be covered with a Bedouin tent, which then turns it into the perfect setting for larger events. A grassed amphitheatre in the Maropeng grounds can be used to set up a stage and a grandstand with seating for up to 10000 people – ideal for concerts and large events. The 4-star boutique hotel has 14 twin executive studio rooms, one of which has been designed with wheelchair access, and 10 king executive studio rooms. All have en-suite bathrooms with separate shower, air-conditioning, mini-bar (which can be stocked on request) and safe. Public facilities include a stylish yet cosy lounge with a fireplace, a chic restaurant and bar leading out onto a patio, and a swimming pool with a breathtaking view. A distinguishing feature of the Maropeng Hotel is attention to detail from the architecture to the smallest finishes. <p>Accommodation:<br /> The Plantation offers luxury guest suites consisting of large bedrooms, dining areas, and private patios surrounded by exquisite gardens. Full breakfasts are included in the room rate, lunches and dinners can be arranged and fridges, crockery and cutlery are available. A tea and coffee facility is provided in each suite and inter-leading suites can be booked for families. Rooms are serviced daily.<br /> The Plantation has four double suites, each equipped with a television offering a bouquet of 16 DSTV channels. En suite bathrooms are fitted with separate showers and baths, and bath towels are provided (guests should bring their own beach towels).
