The Maboneng Township Arts Experience is a responsible and sustainable tourism non-profit. A social entrepreneurship organisation that trains and works together with families and artists to convert their homes into art galleries. The festival component of the organisation – The Maboneng Township Arts Experience, is an annual public arts intervention that works with homeowners from different townships around South Africa to transform their residences into art galleries, so together with gallery home owners, the Experience creates festivals and permanent Gallery Homes. These homes are then visited by the domestic and international tourism market during the organisation's annual public art festivals, as well as during ongoing daily cultural tours on offer. As an event, the Maboneng Township Arts Experience provides a platform for an authentic exploration of local households, captivating street murals and open-air stages, as talented local and international artists are showcased. Visitors can stroll between the houses along the pedestrian route and take in the bright, beautiful street murals and street performances, also getting to enjoy live music, film screenings, visual art, and various theatre productions.
