WWherever you are in South Africa, there’s an adventure opportunity ready and waiting. Whether you are visiting for business or pleasure, South Africa caters for adrenaline junkies wanting to try something new and exciting, with an African twist. You can choose bungee jumping in the Eastern Cape, hot air ballooning over the Magaliesberg mountains or shark cage dive in Cape Town—and that's just the starter menu.

In Mpumalanga, Big Five Safaris are an adventure not to be missed and there are numerous activities on offer in Graskop, Hazyview and Sabie, including abseiling the world’s largest green canyon, quad biking in the forests and canoeing on the rivers.

Did You Know?
SSCAD diving—a form of controlled free fall diving— has just been added to the adventure menu at the Orlando Cooling Towers Adventure Centre in Soweto.

YYou’re spoilt for choice in the Western Cape—paraglide off Signal Hill, go mountain-biking in the Cederberg or hike up Table Mountain. And let’s not forget about getting into the water with Great White Sharks in Cape Town, this is exclusively for the brave.

KwaZulu-Natal offers fun in the sun all year round, with superb adventures such as canopy tours in Karkloof, learning to surf in Durban and a range of activities in the Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site such as horse riding and hiking.

AAdventure holidays in the Northern Cape include 4x4 trails in the Richtersveld, extreme activities at the Augrabies Falls and shipwreck diving along the desolate coastline. For those visiting Gauteng, you can bridge swing at the Orlando Cooling Towers, sandboard down a mine dump or go caving at the Cradle of Humankind.

Limpopo is known for its challenging Ivory Route 4x4 trail and numerous outdoor activities in the bush, while the Free State is home to the Golden Gate Highlands National Park which offers great hikes and walks. Pony trekking safaris are on offer close by in the Maluti Mountains.

Adventure tourism in South Africa caters extensively for corporate groups which means that you can enjoy your meeting, conference or convention and then take your adrenaline glands on a joyride—whether it’s bungee jumping off the world’s highest bridge swing, racing ostriches in the Karoo or paragliding off Table Mountain. Certainly there’s nothing to beat having a business meeting or conference followed by a range of fun activities to get the heart rate going.
