Tourism Sentiment Index by Destination Think! for July 2022
The tourism sentiment index for the month of July has seen a slight decrease in the volume of online conversation about the destination, down 2% from June. The decline in the volume of conversation was driven by less online chatter about Outdoor Activities (our largest volume driver) as well as less conversation about Destination services and Access + Transportation. Despite this, however, there was an increase in the TSI sentiment index, up from 22 in June to 25 in July 2022. This marks an end to a downward trend from 24 in April, 23 in May and down to 22 in June. The sentiment was driven by increases in all the major categories, relaxation + wellness topped the sentiment drivers with a score of 30, tied with food and culinary. Destination services, outdoor activities, and culture and history all improved sentiment from June. The top sentiment elements were golfing, weddings, sky diving/bungee jumping, and distilleries and spirits. All these also improved from the previous month and contributed to the jump in sentiment.
