SSouth Africa is open and ready to welcome travellers from all over the world

As we once again welcome all travellers to our beautiful country, your health and safety is our top priority! All South African airports are fully equipped to ensure the safety of all travellers entering and leaving the country, and strictly adhere to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. There are screening stations at all points of entry, visible sanitising stations, and agents offering passenger sanitisation.

Travellers are encouraged to abide by all health and safety protocols, including sanitising of hands, wearing of masks and social distancing. We would like to remind you of the following:

  • All travellers coming into South Africa need to present a completed Traveller Health Questionnaire and a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate, not older than 72 hours, prior to the date of their travel. Travellers will not be allowed to board without it. Tip: take several copies, just in case.
  • Upon arrival, all travellers will be screened for any COVID-19 symptoms by Port Health. This screening includes a questionnaire prior to disembarking the flight, as well as a temperature check. Should a traveller display COVID-19 symptoms (e.g. elevated body temperatures and flu-like symptoms), he/she will have to take a mandatory COVID-19 test. This test will be at the traveller’s expense. If the test comes back positive, the traveller will have to quarantine for 10 days at a designated hotel. This too will be at the traveller’s expense.
  • Travellers need to keep in mind that South Africa is currently under Level 4 lockdown, with a 21:00pm to 04:00am curfew, which may affect their flight schedules. Travellers should please double-check with their airline. Also, due to current regulations in South Africa, the transportation of alcohol in luggage is not allowed (hand and checked luggage).

It is recommended that all travellers download the COVID-Alert APP (COVID Alert SA) so that they are able to monitor and minimise their risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus while visiting South Africa.

We look forward to welcoming all visitors to our shores, to enjoy our culture, beaches, wildlife, wine and local cuisine. South Africa offers an endless variety of experiences to enjoy, safely.
