MMorgan Freeman has, in his illustrious film career,  played Nelson Mandela, God and the president of the United States.. Another achievement worth mentioning is that he has also carded a par on the extreme golf 19th hole at Legend Golf and Safari Resort, the world's longest par-3 hole. What would you score?

The Legend Golf and Safari Resort in South Africa's Limpopo province is home to what has been described as the “most extreme golf hole in the world” – the Xtreme 19th, the world's highest and longest par-3 hole.

GGet ready. Get your clubs ready. Because this a golfing experience that requires more than just a golf cart. The experience begins with golfers taking a helicopter ride to the tee box, which sits high above a sheer cliff on Hangklip Mountain.

FFrom here it is a 576-metre drive to reach the pin of this unique hole. The tee box is 430 metres above the green, allowing plenty of leverage – not to mention a superb panoramic background. The green itself is shaped like the African continent, surrounded by a bunker (definitely a challenge).

The average drive will remain airborne for about 30 seconds, allowing plenty of time to marvel at its flight. All the balls are fitted with tracking devices in case the drive is a little wayward.

TThe cost to play all 19 holes at the Legend Golf and Safari Resort is approximately R2000 per person, which includes the helicopter trip to the 19th tee and a DVD of your drive from the Xtreme 19th.

A hole-in-one on the 19th carries a prize of $1-million, which is an excellent return on your investment, even after you've bought everyone drinks at the clubhouse.

The first birdie on this extreme golfing hole was recorded by former Barbados cricket star, Franklyn Stephenson, who sunk a 7m putt after his booming drive landed on the green.

MMany celebrities have played this hole, and some have done themselves extremely proud. Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman became one of the first golfers to record a par on the Xtreme 19th.

Established professional golfers, including the likes of Padraig Harrington, Justin Rose, Sergio Garcia, KJ Choi, Trevor Immelman, Thomas Bjorn, Jim Furyk, Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, Ian Woosnam, Vijay Singh and Retief Goosen, designed each of the 18 regular holes at the Legend Golf and Safari Resort.

The first 18 holes are not compulsory, but certainly advisable on this breathtakingly beautiful and wild golf course.
