IIn the heart of the Eastern Cape’s Karoo is Mount Camdeboo – a 14,000 hectare reserve which offer some of the best backdrops throughout South Africa. Over the years, this once private agricultural farm has been transformed into one of South Africa’s most pristine game reserves. The reserve creates an environment for a wide variety of wildlife to roam freely.

Accommodation options at Mount Camdeboo are spread across the reserve; these include Camdeboo Manor, Hillside Manor, Courtyard Manor and Peppertree Cottage. The reserve also has luxury safari tents for those travellers looking for an authentic yet luxurious bush camp experience.

AA stay at Mount Camdeboo includes twice-daily game drives (averaging around three hours each) which take place at pre-dawn and sunset. Expert rangers use their Land Rovers to take guests out on their game drives and introducing them to the unique wildlife located within this area of the country. Guided bushwalks are also possible if all guests on the vehicle opt for a walk instead of a drive.

AAuthentic and traditional South African inspired meals, which are popular in this region of the country, are prepared on site using the freshest ingredients sourced from local farmers and suppliers. Meals can also be enjoyed under the amazing Karoo starlight; the Karoo area offers some of the clearest skies in the southern hemisphere.

Mount Camdeboo is located about 60 kilometres (37 miles) from the historical town of Graff-Reinet in the malaria-free semi-desert Great Karoo region. Click here for more information on Mount Camdeboo.
