ACTIVITIES

The longest and shortest wine routes

Ever been on a walkable wine route? Bosman’s Crossing, at the lower end of Dorp Street in Stellenbosch, is home to the only walkable wine route in the world. There are about four wineries within 400m. This is also known as the World’s Shortest Wine Route.

South Africa is also home to the longest wine route in the world. Spanning a distance of 850km, Route 62 is said to be the longest as it stretches from Cape Town all the way up to Port Elizabeth. Innovation and knowledge, combined with terrain and a mild balanced climate, results in the outstanding wines on Route 62.

The easily accessible towns nestled along the valleys all offer ample opportunity for discovery—from wineries and game reserves to tribal art, cultural tours and adventure activities—this is a must-do route for sure.
