HHop on hop off bus

A classic favourite when visiting Cape Town, as it provides the easiest and most convenient way to visit the Table Mountain Cableway, Cape Town’s City Bowl, as well as Camps Bay and the Atlantic Seaboard. A red bus ticket allows you to hop on and hop off on all tours so you can start your double-decker experience at any of the stops on the route. Table Mountain Cableway

Table Mountain is iconic and one of the best-known attractions in the country. Winter is even better if you have kids, because they ride free between May and September. CCape Point and the Flying Dutchman Funicular

The southern-most tip of Africa, Cape Point is an awesome spot to spend the day with the family. Take the Flying Dutchman Funicular to the top for insane views, grab a bite to eat at the Two Ocean’s Restaurant and then walk it off along the Olifantsbos shipwreck trail. The kids will love it.

Apart from offering visitors an exciting and novel method of travel, taking the Flying Dutchman funicular saves visitors an uphill walk from the car park to see the old lighthouse and enjoy the panoramic views.

The Flying Dutchman Funicular, also known as the Cape Point Funicular, is a funicular railway located at Cape Point. It is believed to be the only commercial funicular of its type in Africa, and takes its name from the local legend of the Flying Dutchman ghost ship.

 Tokara wine and olive tasting – the kids will love the natural play area while you wine and dine

Tokara’s and the Tokara Delicatessen is a picture-perfect destination that offers visitors a unique combination of award-winning wines, brandy and olive oils, a gallery of fine art, a restaurant featuring one of South Africa’s leading chefs as well as a delicatessen. This could be an outing on its own as there is so much to do. You could start off with some wine and olive tasting and then enjoy lunch on the estate while taking in the views and relaxed atmosphere. The kids will love the play area at the deli, surrounded by indigenous fynbos and made from natural products, your kids will love being outdoors and knee deep in nature.

Scootours

The first of its kind in SA – enjoy an exhilarating downhill descent on the Monster Mountain Scooters. The scooters are non-motorised, making this an eco-friendly adventure. GGarden fun at Kirstenbosch

Pack the kids, the picnic, and the blanket and head off to Kirstenbosch, acclaimed as one of the great botanical gardens of the world. In summer, there are plenty of shady spots to spread that blanket. The whole family—from grans and grandads right down to the smallest family member—can enjoy the rolling green lawns and beautiful surroundings. A “walk in the trees” along the tree canopy walkway known as the Boomslang is a thrilling activity that children will enjoy. Picnics can also be pre-ordered from Moyo or the Kirstenbosch Tea Room.

Learn to surf at Surfers Corner

Surfers Corner in Muizenberg is recognised as one of the best beaches to learn to surf. There are several surf schools here offering lessons to aspiring surfers from the age of 4 to 94. The beach is lovely for swimming and sandcastles, and parents will enjoy the great beachfront restaurants and coffee shops. It is weather-dependent, so always phone ahead to see if conditions are good. Gary's Surf School is an established company specializing in professional surfing tuition and coaching. The school has been in existence since 1989, making it the oldest surf school in the country. The Surf School is well known by locals and is internationally renowned, with many tourists returning year after year to continue developing their surfing skills.
