FFrom the 20th to the 22nd October, the three-day event is expected to see participation from over 1,000 Indian buyers and 100 South African suppliers~

Johannesburg, 19th October 2021: South African Tourism will be hosting its maiden virtual Roadshow in India. Titled ‘VirtuallyYoursSouthAfrica’ the national roadshow aims to showcase unique offerings that South Africa has to offer to both Indian leisure tourists and business events delegates.

All South African Tourism trade and consumer engagements are informed by insights. In this regard, insights indicate that Indian travellers have high intentions to visit South Africa.  Capitalising on this high traveller intent to visit destination South Africa, a diverse South African trade delegation of approximately 100 suppliers will take the opportunity to educate and collaborate with Indian trade partners to market and promote the destination to attract Indian tourists to come visit South Africa.

South Africa’s variety will be on full display with tourism experience products, representatives from accommodation establishments, destination management companies, airlines and most critically, SMMEs showcasing their product and services, while engaging Indian travel and trade associates. This event will be attended by 1,000 buyers and corporates from across India and promises to yield lucrative partnerships.

 The three-day roadshow will commence with a pre-recorded welcome address by the Acting CEO of South African Tourism, Sthembiso Dlamini, to the top travel trade and corporate CEOs in India. An exclusive industry panel discussion, breakout rooms for participants, photo booths, interactive maps and brochures as well as one-on-one access to select meetings and extensive corporate engagement are all part of the features at the VirtuallyYoursSouthAfrica India Roadshow. 

Speaking about the 2021 virtual edition of the Roadshow, Sthembiso Dlamini Acting CEO at South African Tourism said, “This virtual roadshow is a testament of our unwavering commitment to this market. We are seeing a gradual uptake for travel with forward bookings showing an upward curve as well as a general opening of many of our source markets.  We are therefore excited to once again showcase our beautiful country with natural scenic beauty and warm and welcoming people.”

Given the increase in Indian traveller demand, Emirates, Qatar Airways and Ethiopian Airlines have regular flights scheduled from India to South Africa, with layovers at Dubai, Doha and Addis Ababa respectively. Additionally, Air Seychelles is also scheduled to resume flights from India to South Africa. To facilitate a smooth travel journey for them, South African visas are now being made available within 5-7 working days or less from the date of application.

In 2019, South Africa welcomed 95 621 tourist from India.
