SSA Express is delighted to announce the introduction of a new route between Johannesburg and Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, from Monday 10 December 2018.

The new route launch is in line with the airline’s primary mandate to promote trade and tourism by connecting secondary destinations to main airport hubs. The airline will initially operate a daily flight from OR Tambo International with the intention of increasing frequency, early in the New Year, subject to demand.

“I am delighted to announce that effective from 10 December 2018, we will be launching a new service into Mthatha from Gauteng to the Eastern Cape over the December period’, says the Interim CEO Siza Mzimela.

“Flying remains one of the most reliable and convenient modes of transportation in South Africa and the world.

“As we approach the end-of-year holidays, the newly introduced flights will provide the much needed choice for the growing VFR (Visiting Friends & Family) market segment who would be seeking to spend quality time with friends and loved ones after a long and demanding year”, Mzimela said.

The launch of the new Johannesburg-Mthatha route brings a total number of eight local and regional routes operated by SA Express to date. The routes include, Johannesburg to Lubumbashi, Walvis Bay, Bloemfontein, Kimberley, and Hoedspruit, amongst others.

About SA Express: SA Express was established on 24 April 1994, on the eve of South Africa’s new democratic dispensation. As a regional airline, SA Express offers seamless connectivity between primary and secondary domestic destinations in South Africa and five other SADC countries. Its unblemished safety record over 24 years is among the reasons that the airline continues to be regarded as a leading regional carrier on the African continent.
