Overview
TThis UNESCO World Heritage Site is located near the town of Parys, and is known as the world’s oldest meteorite impact site. Guided walks are on offer, along with other outdoor activities like quad biking, rock climbing and mountain biking. Delegates will be fascinated to learn that Vredefort Dome, which 17km deep was caused by meteorite that was 10km in diameter. Be sure to take a guided tour to learn more about this incredible site, and for those who are more adventurous – dare yourselves to go abseiling on the dome’s rock faces or canoe the rapids of the Vaal. Whether it is summer or winter, any time of the year is a great opportunity to explore this World Heritage Site, although between May and July is best to go hiking as temperatures are cooler.
