Overview
DDelve into KwaZulu-Natal’s historic past by visiting the Battlefields Route. It boasts the largest concentration of significant battle- and war-related sites, with 82 battlefields, museums, old fortifications and places of remembrance – more than anywhere else in South Africa. To get a deep understanding of what occurred many decades ago, it’s best for visitors to choose an era, the war that was fought, and the sites you’d like to visit. Once delegates are done exploring the battle sites, there’s plenty more to see and do in the area. Take a game drive in nearby game reserves; enjoy walking trails at the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park or dare yourself to participate in various adventure sports from adventure establishments in the area.
