JJefferey Mulaudzi is not your average 22-year-old. He has built up a successful business from scratch and is now one of the best cycle tour operators in the area.
It all began when Jeffrey won a bursary to play hockey at a nearby school. His passion and talent led him to a team that had a French coach who enjoyed touring little-known parts of South Africa. Jeffrey took his coach on a bicycle tour of his home, Alexandra, which impressed the coach so much that he came back with friends. With the money Jeffrey made from the tour, he bought two new bicycles, and was thus able to take even more people around his beloved Alex, and so Mulaudzi Bicycle Tours was born.

OOver the years Alex has seen uprisings and rebellions. Stories of extreme hardship and extreme strength have unfolded on its streets, and there is no better person to tell the story and introduce you to the people than Jeffrey Mulaudzi.
Malaudzi Alexandra Tours
NNelson Mandela had a small room in Alexandra when he first came to Johannesburg in the early 1940’s. The building he lived in opened onto a small square with a number of other rooms. Today the people who live on the square are proud of their proximity to the great man. Tours stop there, giving you a chance to talk to locals and perhaps buy some crafts or taste a local delicacy. There is also now a complete heritage centre just over the road from the house that tells the story of the suburb.

AAll over the township you can see pockets of prosperity beginning to blossom. Jeffery Mulaudzi is a perfect example of this. He hopes to one day start his own chicken farm in the Pietersburg area. “For now, my passion is cycling, but one day I hope that the tours can be self- sustained, because then nothing will stop me from farming” he says enthusiastically.
Luckily for us, he is still in Alex, and still runs one of the best cycle tours in the area.
