JJohannesburg may not be a coastal city, but it sure does know how to make exceptional cocktails and it has some pretty spectacular views. Johannesburg's entertainment and leisure options are vast and varied, so make sure your energy levels are high. This dynamic city has a range of restaurants – from pub 'n grub bars, pizza take-outs and African-inspired eateries to delightful delis serving everything from a great cup of coffee to healthy meals.

For those looking for a more relaxed vibe, great views and colourful cocktails, there are many amazing rooftop venues to check out.

Did You Know?
JJohannesburg is one of the 40 largest metropolitan areas in the world with a population of around 4.4 million people according to 2016 stats.

HHere are three popular choices:

Island Bar, Southern Sun Hyde Park

Stylish, comfortable and warm is the best way to describe Southern Sun Hyde Park. Located in Hyde Park, which is 10-minutes away from Sandton, their Island Bar attracts an exclusive, upmarket clientele. Its stunning pool, elegant interior decor and views of the north are some of its most distinguished qualities. From light lunchtime snacks to indulgent sundowners, the Island Bar is a perfect way to end the day.

Opening times are from 7 am to 11 pm. Call 011 341 8080.

SSan Deck Bar, Sandton Sun

Sandton Sun describes its San Deck as "the best place for Sandton sundowners". With its sprawling cocktail menu, spacious and stylish deck, and gorgeous views of the surrounding Sandton skyline, it's difficult to disagree. SAN’s menu reflects South African flavours and uses locally-sourced seasonal ingredients. Opening times 6.30am to 11 pm. Call 011 780 5000.

The Copper Bar

Located on the rooftop of a Bryanston office park, The Copper Bar, is an unlikely addition to this list. Although it's predominantly a location for private functions, The Copper Bar is open to the public on Thursday evenings if you’ve applied to be on the guest list - and that's when it really comes alive. Joburg sunsets are somehow even more gorgeous from here. Opening times are from 5.30pm. Call 071 516 4846.
