MMpumalanga is one of the most picturesque places in the country. With attractions that include the Kruger National Park, Sabi Sabi and the Blyde River Canyon, Mpumalanga's vast mountain ranges and lush scenery make for the perfect hiking location.

Here are three hiking trails to try when you visit the province:

Escarpment Trail
Located on a thousand-hectare fenced nature and game conservancy at Five Assegais Country Estate, this trail starts at Aloe Kaya Camp descending the Bankspruit Canyon to the foot of the ‘Uitkomste’ Waterfall, the second highest in Mpumalanga.

Did You Know?
MMpumalanga is a Swathi name for "the place where the sun rises".

It then follows the Spruit past pools and rapids, then through the sandstone maze that is the Skurwerand. The trail can take up to two days to complete.

KKruger Walking Safari

Conducted in the Greater Kruger National Park, this trail offers guests a wilderness walking safari in a “Big Five” game viewing area. Around 40 other mammal species and over 350 bird species live within the region of this trail. There's always a professional, armed safari guide to lead the tour.

Blyderivierspoort Hiking Trail

The Blyde River Canyon is the third largest canyon in the world and is one of the country's most lucrative tourist attractions. The Blyderivierspoort Hiking Trail takes two to five days to complete. The magnificent scenery with sensational rock formations and indigenous riverine forests allow for a breathtaking trail experience.
