BBushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Wellness Retreat is about 3 hours away from Cape Town, and one can feel the stress reducing kilometre by kilometre as you head towards the spectacular Cederberg mountains.

This retreat has excellent accommodation on offer, consisting of Main Lodge and Koro Lodge (an exclusive private villa). However, the real piece de resistance at Bushmans Kloof is the spa.

You can also enjoy select treatments in the privacy of your room, or you can have a muscle-melting massage in a secluded rock shelter which overlooks a beautiful valley at the in-house spa.

There are a number of signature experiences on offer at this Cederberg spa.

The Cederberg ‘soulution' takes place in the outdoor gazebo where you enjoy a range of different therapies based on ancient African traditions using fynbos and rooibos products combined with locally-made plant oils. The treatment includes a rooibos milk bath foot treatment and relaxing pressure-point techniques.

At the riverfront gazebo, you can enjoy a healing waters rejuvenation ceremony, again, inspired by the African continent.

Trained therapists use healing sticks (utilised by traditional healers) to assist in a full-body massage with shea butter from Ghana. These sacred sticks are said to help in grounding one's energy (and absorbing negativity) and assist in redirecting the flow of good energy and thus creating a feeling of wellbeing.

There are a range of additional special treatments available at this spa in the Cederberg including the celebration of life skin treatments (using Rooibos tea) and the Bushmans Kloof signature massage with taaibos and lavender. There are also detoxing mud wraps, an African potato sloughing session and a wide range of skin care treatments.

Of course, once you have been pampered within an inch of your life you can enjoy walks in the Cederberg, and go and inspect some ancient rock art, just to add to your sacred, soul-salivating experience.
