SSet on the majestic Elephant Coast in KwaZulu-Natal, ANEW Hotel Hluhluwe & Safaris has cemented its name as one of the leading hotels in the area. The three-star-establishment is known for its affordable accommodation that celebrates Africa and its wildlife.
Nestled between the Hluhluwe Game Reserve and the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park, a world heritage site, the hotel opened in 2017. The brains behind the establishment are two KwaZulu-Natal businessmen, Clinton Armour and Patrick Eliot. Their other offering is Ingeli Forest & Spa in KwaZulu-Natal. Armour wanted to create a brand that is personal and unique for travellers, something that they have managed to attain over the years.
FFormerly the Protea Hotel Hluhluwe, the hotel received several soft refurbishments. Wildlife art, of the same animals found in the town, decorate the hotel corridors. Be sure to take a selfie at the elephant mural in the hotel's car parking.
ANEW experience in Hluhluwe
TThe lodge offers 81 modern safari rooms equipped with free WiFi, a flat screen television and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The two self-catering units cater for six people. Each double-story thatched unit includes two bedrooms, a kitchenette, a lounge with a flat-screen TV and a braai area.
The 5-star self-catering safari lodge is ideal for people who seek privacy. There are five air-conditioned bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a swimming pool and a spacious living area. While not a game reserve, the hotel has incorporated game drives as part of their offering.
Guests wanting a game drive will be transported by a vehicle to a game reserve close by. Other nearby activities include Emdoneni Cheetah Project, whale watching or fishing at St Lucia Estuary and diving at Sodwana Bay. Their food is another reason to visit. Whether it’s breakfast by the pool or a boma dinner, travellers will tuck into sumptuous cuisine in a spectacular ambience.
