TThe night-market scene in Durban has grown significantly over the years – they over a great evening of food and entertainment. 

Night markets are popular for live music, artisanal food and craft items from small business owners. Gone are the days when night markets were just about shopping. Organisers have also focused on entertainment and family activities. This is a great night out for the whole family. 

The Rooftop Night Market, Musgrave: Rooftop Night Market has grown tremendously since its inception in 2015. The market was started to promote local businesses and products. Today, there are more than 40 stall holders and over 2 000 people in attendance. 

The market takes place on the first Friday of the month, from 5 pm to 9.30pm. Make sure you visit the liquid nitrogen ice-cream at 312 Below Zero and try the homemade bath salts and face masks at Raw Earth.

MMoses Mabhida Stadium, has a SkyCar (cable car) running through the arch above it. The view from the top of the arch gives tourists a 360-degree sight of the city, shoreline and sea from around 105m in the air.

The Westville Night Market, Westville: The Westville Night Market takes place on the last Friday of every month. The market has incorporated a range of activities for families. At the children’s play area, youngsters can enjoy interactive activities such as sand art and cupcake decorating. Moms can go for a head, neck and shoulder massage at the new mom’s parlour. There will soon be a dad’s parlour where they can get a shave or haircut. Foodies can tuck into olives and cheese, craft beer and homemade lemonade. There is also a gin cocktail bar, pizzas and artisanal bread on offer.
