Overview

HHluhluwe River Lodge and Adventures is a small 24 bed hideaway close to the famous Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park and the coastal marine reserves of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park. Great comfort, friendly staff, excellent food and lots of exciting activities make this the ideal choice for travellers exploring this diverse and beautiful region. The central living area of the lodge incorporates a lounge, dining room and bar which encircle a delightful garden and expansive terrace which has a splendid 180 degree view of the Hluhluwe river floodplain. The rooms are spread about a rambling indigenous forested garden and there is a swimming pool in a secluded spot away from main guest area. Your hosts at the lodge are Jurie Van Riel and a dedicated team of field guides who will escort you on game drives and a variety of other adventures on offer at the lodge. Lodge ‘foodie’ Nadine and her team of chefs will ensure that you are well fed with a variety fresh fruit and interesting hot breakfast choices to kick start your day. After a midday siesta a light lunch is served just before you depart on your afternoon safari or adventure. Dinners are an ala carte affair with a set starter and a choice of main dishes with a local flavour ranging from fish and poultry to a variety of delicious meats including our speciality venison. Dinners are served under the stars in the outside ‘isibaya’ area when weather conditions permit or on the main lodge terrace, the cosy dining room is the obvious indoor alternative if ‘al fresco’ is not an option.
