DDURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA – Friday, 3rd April 2019: The second edition of the highly successful domestic campaign, Sho’t Left Travel Week, launched today at the 2019 Africa’s Travel Indaba taking place at Durban ICC. Already 199 trade partners grabbed a piece of the tourism pie by registering to participate at the Sho’t Left Travel Week Stand.

“Last year’s inaugural Sho’t Left Travel Week was a resounding success,” commented Mashoto Mokgethi, Domestic Hub Head for South African Tourism. She went on to add: “We saw a combined collaborative effort with SA Tourism and our trade partners that enabled us to make travel accessible to all South Africans, which is one of the key objectives of Sho’t Left Travel Week.”

To create a business case for enticing potential trade partners to want to participate in this year’s instalment, Sho’t Left Travel Week launched with a twist, by inviting potential trade partners to ‘grab a slice of the pie’. Those registering can literally look forward to receiving a slice of pie at Indaba when they register to participate in Sho’t Left Travel Week.

 By joining Sho’t Left Travel Week your business will not only become part of the biggest local travel sale, but also benefit from the hype and substantial media investment made by South African Tourism.

Benefits for registered trade partners include:

  • Collateral support to promote deals and downloadable tool kits.
  • Seasonality of offers means discounts to consumers during quieter periods.
  • Improved provincial spread, where provinces that usually get fewer visitors will have the opportunity to showcase their offerings and affordability to a much wider audience.
  • It gives trade partners an opportunity to sell directly to the consumer on a highly promoted platform.

Sho’t Left Travel Week is a response to South African’s affordability challenge, which is a big factor when they consider travelling in and around our beautiful country. The campaign aims to encourage South Africans to travel and explore their own back yard. From beachfront destinations and under-water shark diving to world-class wild safaris and awe-inspiring culture, for the second year running all South Africans will once again be able to buy discounted local deals and packages for one week only.

A first of a kind initiative for South Africans, the campaign aims to get local travellers excited about exploring their own country. Last year t saw 325 trade partners, airlines, hotel groups and tour operators offer generous discounts to consumers across the country. In addition, 51% of participants said they received enquiries, 84% would recommend participation and 92% of the total deals sold were for accommodation.

The benefits of participating in Sho’t Left Travel Week are clear:

For the trade, access to a much wider audience, backed by South African Tourism’s investment into this exciting campaign;

And for the consumer, access to hundreds of amazing travel deals for one week only!

Everything Must Go, Everyone Must Go between 23 and 29 September 2019. Register at www.deals.southafrica.net to participate.
