OOn 25 January 2017, the annual Travvy Awards took place at New York Citys’, Gotham Hall. This prestigious event was attended by travel industry leaders, travel agencies and industry delegates alike, honouring tourism’s best-of-the-best.
South African Tourism won an award in the category “Best Tourism Board” in Africa that evening. The South African Tourism office was nominated in a category that consists of travel heavy-weights of the African continent and came out on top. The list of nominees in the category consisted of Egypt, Seychelles, and Kenya –all brilliant and inspiring representatives of their country.
The Travvy Awards is one of the most coveted award ceremonies in the travel industry. It recognises the highest standard of excellence in the industry and honours travel agencies, companies, products and destinations for their outstanding achievement the previous year.
The Gold Travvy Award is a token of recognition for the tremendous effort the SAT office in the US put in, in 2016.
More than 100,000 votes — cast by the US agents who sell to tens of millions of consumers yearly — determined this year's winners. This represents the largest database of the foremost leisure-selling, independent travel agents in the country.
Congratulations go to the team in the US and we thank them for flying the South African flag high for all the world to see.
