KKZN floods recovery beach clean-up campaign by the KZN Sharks Board and other relevant stakeholders, the KZN Sharks Board opens its doors for donations for the affected flood victims

The KZN Sharks Board in partnership with various stakeholders which include but not limited to our mother body EDTEA, Tourism KwaZulu-Natal (TKZN), WESSA, DSW, ISPHEPHO Enviro Ambassadors to mention a few, have taken an initiative to conduct a major beach clean -up campaign scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 19 April 2022 at Dakota beach Isipingo.

This initiative comes about as one of the recovery initiatives for the KZN province which has recently experienced major floods in the past few weeks. These floods have affected many communities in the province and more especially in the eThekwini region. The residences of the province have lost homes, businesses and sadly family members due to these floods. It is with this reason that the Board in partnership with the mentioned stakeholders have decided to assist in cleaning up the beach which plays a major part in the beach tourism of the province.

The Board which is mainly responsible for bather protection in the province of KZN launched its beach clean-up campaigns in 2014. The main purpose of these beach clean- up campaigns is to assist and participate in the general upkeep & cleanliness of our beaches.

It is also part of our conservatory efforts to save & preserve the lives of sea creatures, and to encourage the usage of our beaches thereby grow beach tourism in the province.

Further, the Board has been identified as a donation centre whereby, donations can be to be delivered or dropped off at our headquarters in Umhlanga, physical address: No. 1 A Herrwood Drive. Kindly request for Mrs Nombuso Ngubane – Acting Marketing Manager.

Other governmental departments, sister entities, businesses and the public are kindly invited to donate essential goods such as unperishable foods, blankets, sanitary items, baby food and clothing etc.

The KZN Sharks Board working with various NGO’s, NPO’s, Church groups and its shareholder EDTEA will ensure that these donations are delivered to the affected communities and flood victims that are in need during this time.
