SSATSA Accredited Tour Operators discovered the small but beautiful town of Tulbagh in the latest round of the national speed-marketing sessions.

Nestled in a bowl of magnificent mountains, this historic town provides an excellent base from which to explore the Cape Winelands and surrounding areas. This was Tulbagh’s first Speed Marketing session, hosted in partnership with the SAT, SATSA and Tulbagh Tourism Association.

As one of the first of its kind in Tulbagh the SATSA accredited Tour Operators were truly impressed and enjoyed a host of activities such as olive tasting, wine tasting, zip lining, all topped off with a cultural exploration of this beautiful farming  town.

Over three days, a variety of tourism facilities presented what they had to offer to local operators who are responsible for packaging and selling the area to tourists. Leisure activities are the focal point for this farming community and the greater area, yet it is evident that the entire community is working together to ensure growth and development is taking place to make it an all-encompassing stop for both business and leisure.

The speed-marketing sessions play a vital role in fostering and building a relationship between key tourism players and that in turn drives knowledge about what is available in the industry.

What emerged out of the sessions and site visits is that olive tasting at Oakhurst Olives is a special experience, wines of Tulbagh are world-class and the town is steeped in history and culture.

Wine tasting and dinners held at Montpellier Wine Estate and Vindoux Guest Farm provided the opportunity for networking and enabled further discussion to foster business relations within the trade.

Both zip lining in Ceres and learning about different wines at The House of Krone and Saronsberg Wine Estate were enjoyed by everyone who participated in this speed-marketing session.

Art galleries and 300 year old monuments just added to the charm of this town. The local community are proud and committed to making your Tulbagh visit one to remember.

Only a 90-minute scenic drive from Cape Town makes getting away to this special town so easy and so much fun! For more information about what we saw and what we did, check out the blogs on the SAT website.
