Meet South Africa

PPlett is a major attraction on South Africa’s famous Garden Route. Its location near the Indian Ocean, on the Western Cape coastline, makes it one of the country’s top tourist destinations. Prepare to explore miles of sweeping, unspoilt beaches; a dramatic rocky peninsula; intriguing lagoons and estuaries; towering indigenous forests; and unpolluted rivers.

From Keurboomstrand to the Robberg Peninsula, there are 15 kilometers of golden beaches to enjoy, interrupted only by a river mouth and Plett's iconic Beacon Island.

Go fishing or birding; canoe Plett’s scenic waterways; and look out for dolphins and seals. In season, southern right whales can be spotted in the bay.

Plett also makes an excellent base for exploring nearby villages and attractions. Visit Knysna or discover the indigenous forest of Nature’s Valley. The area is also big on arts and crafts – visit Old Nick Village, which hosts regular fresh-produce markets. The quaint seaside village of Sedgefield, near Knysna, is also home to talented artists.

At the base of the soaring Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains lies Storms River. The area is teeming with birdlife, Cape flora, wetlands, lagoons and ancient trees. Adrenaline-seekers can attempt one of the world’s highest bungee jumps, or embark on a zipline tour.

If you’re into hiking, bring your walking shoes. Plett and its surrounds are famous for its beautiful walking trails and reserves. If you’re in search of the Big 5, Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve is well worth a visit.

Take a break from the action with a relaxing stroll on the beach, a round of golf or time spent with a good book.
