Meet South Africa

TTribal traditions and culture are a historic and continuing way of life in South Africa, and at Gaabo Motho Cultural Village near Tshwane in the North West province, you have the privilege of experiencing the culture of four prominent tribes, the Zulu, Ndebele, Tswana and Venda, who peacefully co-exist here.

Each tribe is distinctive in their dress, dance, music and language. The Zulu tongue is arguably the most expressive, while the Ndebele are known for their stunning geometric designs on their dwellings. It's this combined experience that makes Gaabo Motho Cultural Village a fascinating stopover for visitors wanting insight into South Africa's tribal cultures.

On arrival you are immersed into the rhythm of Africa as various tribal dances are performed to the rousing beat of drums. The gumboot dance, originated by migrant workers on the gold mines, is also performed, as well as beautiful church and wedding songs.

You are invited to join traditional African games as they have been played for centuries, and to discover the mores and myths of the Tswana. Visit a traditional healer who will throw bones to predict your future, and afterwards enjoy traditional beer at a shebeen shack called 'Mokhukhu'.

This North West cultural village also makes a memorable overnight stay. There are conventional double rooms with great views of the surrounding village, as well as a colourfully decorated Ndebele village consisting of thatched huts and more westernised huts. There is also a Zulu village with traditional huts built according to Zulu tradition.
