In recent years, the global meetings industry has begun to recognise Africa as a sought after destination. Meetings Africa showcases Africa’s diverse offering of services and products where African associations and African meetings industry professionals can partner to help transform our continent. In the last five years (between 2013 and 2017) Meetings Africa has hosted over 1000 international and regional buyers, 1336 exhibitors and over 7000 visitors. Meetings Africa 2018 will take place from 26-28 February 2018.

South Africa Tourism CEO, Sisa Ntshona, has welcomed the news that SA Express has been cleared by authorities and can start flying again. The airline was temporarily grounded in May this year, but has since received all the necessary certificates to resume normal services again. “This is good news for the tourism industry and for the business traveller,” commented Ntshona.

Kotze-Nhlapo received the Top 40 Women in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing and Exhibitions) Lifetime achievement award which recognizes the excellent contribution made by women in the MICE Industry. “It’s a proud moment when we have one of our own recognised by the industry for her significant contributions to the development and promotion of tourism in our country,” says Sisa Ntshona, CEO of SA Tourism.

South African Tourism welcomes media from around the world in celebration of the Mandela Centenary

As part of the Nelson Mandela Centenary celebrations, South African Tourism will host 17 journalists from around the world later this week. The journalists will get a first-hand experience of attractions, key landmarks and sites that formed part of his life as they look into walk in the footsteps of the late former president. These visitors from countries such as Spain, Italy, India, Brazil, Japan, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Australia, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands will visit, amongst other places, the Apartheid Museum; the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory; the award-winning heritage site Liliesleaf; the Union buildings in Pretoria; the Nelson Mandela Capture Site in Kwa Zulu-Natal; Madiba’s birth province in the Eastern Cape and the Drakenstein Correctional Services in the Western Cape.

Amongst the exhibitors are the city of Cape Town which recently claimed the top spot as the number one city in Africa for hosting international association meetings by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). South Africa still remains the top ranked destination in Africa and the Middle East by ICCA.
