In recent years, the global meetings industry has begun to recognise Africa as a sought after destination. Meetings Africa showcases Africa’s diverse offering of services and products where African associations and African meetings industry professionals can partner to help transform our continent. In the last five years (between 2013 and 2017) Meetings Africa has hosted over 1000 international and regional buyers, 1336 exhibitors and over 7000 visitors. Meetings Africa 2020 will take place from 24-26 February 2020, with BONDay on the 24th.

South African Tourism Hosts Panel Event Spotlighting the Genre Origins & Burgeoning Popularity on the Eve of Afro Nation Miami The distinctive sound of the log drum permeated the air as several musicians, producers and industry experts gathered in Miami to celebrate the burgeoning genre of Amapiano. With a sound best described as a hybrid of deep house and jazz with percussive loops reminiscent of lounge music coupled with soulful vocals, Amapiano is arguably South Africa’s hottest new export and its infectious sound continues to attract new audiences as the genre spreads like wildfire. South African Tourism presented an industry-focused panel discussion in collaboration with Maphike Attorneys Inc., providing an opportunity for creators of this musical style to speak about the cultural impact of Amapiano and discuss the genre’s future as it continues to gain popularity worldwide.

According to initial indications, this year’s Indaba surpassed projections with a remarkable 8,629 delegates, hosting 21,000 meetings between exhibitors and international buyers. Additionally, the event featured no less than a 1,000 international buyers and 1,023 exhibitors who showcased an impressive array of products.

DURBAN, Wednesday 29th March: A new look Africa’s Travel Indaba is set to re-energise delegates from across the world when the show takes place in Durban from the 8th to the 11th of May. Yesterday, new Minister of Tourism, Patricia de Lille; tourism role players and members of the media gathered at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in the city of Durban, to officially start the countdown to Africa’s Travel Indaba 2023.
