SSouth African Tourism today held an offline gathering for tourism partners in Beijing, attracting more than 60 representatives from the Beijing tourism industry. On this occasion, Mr. Mansoor Mohamed, South African Tourism Asia Pacific Hub Head, announced with great excitement that South African Tourism officially launched the smart content portal in China market.

The long-term intrusion of the pandemic has made people more eager to enrich their spiritual and life experiences through travel. After two years of restricted travel movements, South African Tourism invites the world to experience this country filled with rich, authentic, unfiltered experiences and Live Again!  The “Live Again” Global Brand advert captures the story of a young traveller’s life-changing journey through South Africa during the “post-lockdown” global travel and tourism era, thus boldly announcing to the world that South Africa is open and ready to welcome all visitors.

The smart content portal is tailored for the Chinese market, with more than 150 points of interest in the first phase, covering all nine provinces of South Africa. The Smart Content Portal has some novel features that include an itinerary building module where trade can select cities or points of interest within each or any of South Africa’s nine provinces, and then the portal will guide the user with suggested itineraries. Another powerful feature of the smart content portal is the dynamic search capabilities, which will deliver the Chinese tourism industrial partners with vital information to help build personalised itineraries in the Chinese language. An added function of the smart content portal platform, is the download and save feature and will greatly encourage ”users’ to share content on Chinese social media platforms, thereby conveying the infinite charm of ““Rainbow Country””-- ““Diverse South Africa””to mass market in China.

At the same time, South African Tourism will also use its own ability to reach local resources, partners, integration and coordination capabilities, to better connect the needs and trends between the tourism industry in China and South Africa, and bring more vitality and convenience to the market. Mr. Mansoor Mohamed added.

Mr. Mansoor Mohamed emphasised: “In the post-epidemic period, the global tourism industry faces new challenges. South Africa will be more confident in the Chinese market as before. We will continue to focus on promoting in-depth theme tours and customised quality tours. In addition, we will focus on beyond gateway cities, attracting more dynamic tourists from potential markets; and looking for new partners to precisely cultivate target market segments. South Africa will always open its arms and warmly welcome the arrival of Chinese tourists!

Ms. Hanneli Slabber, Acting COO and RGM at South African Tourism, said: “As part of the recovery strategy, South African Tourism has been working behind the scenes to maintain the enthusiasm of our tourism trade partners. We believe the Smart Content Portal will enable faster recovery in a post pandemic environment and help South Africa reach its target of 21 million visitors by the year 2030”.
