    Spanning the breadth of South Africa, 90 Australian and New Zealand travel agents, consumer and trade media, embarked on a series of nine simultaneous familiarisation trips (fam trips) across the country, each led by an ANZ Wholesaler, culminating in a two-day training event at the spectacular Sun City Resort for the South African Tourism’s inaugural Mega Lekker Escape – the name, borne from South African slang meaning very nice or enjoyable.

    Yesterday, on 28 February 2024, Cabinet approved the appointment of a full SA Tourism Board and the appointment of the CEO of SA Tourism. We are therefore pleased to announce Ms Nombulelo Guliwe as the CEO of SA Tourism for a period of five years. SA Tourism is a public entity under the Department of Tourism, established in terms of the Tourism Act of 2014. The mandate of SA Tourism as the official marketing agency, is to market South Africa as a domestic and international tourist destination.

    Some newcomers to the 17th edition of Meetings Africa have praised this year’s event for being well organised and rich with future prospects. As old friends from across Africa hugged and shook hands happy to see one another again, the Galaxia Group from Egypt, the Mangalis Hotel Group from Cote d'Ivoire, MICE Solutions DMC from Tanzania, and Willch Travel and Tours from Zambia made their first appearance at Meetings Africa.
