TThe Nelson Mandela Youth and Heritage Centre is situated in tiny Eastern Cape in the village of Qunu where Nelson Mandela grew up. Built on the ruins of Madiba’s primary school, the centre consists of community halls, craft manufacturing buildings, an administration centre, dining hall, a museum, resource centre, restaurant and sports halls.

GGuided tours of the area are conducted from the Youth and Heritage Centre and includes stops such as the local graveyard where Madiba’s three children and parents are buried, both his current and original homes, the local church, and various places important to his childhood.

MMostly the centre serves as a conference and venue for the surrounding community. Although other companies are able to hire out the facilities, preference is always given to local events no matter how big they are.
