MMadi a Thavha mountain lodge, colourful Limpopo deluxe A rich experience of the stories, customs and raw beauty of the Soutpansberg and its peoples. Madi a Thavha has guest rooms and suites with mountain views, layered in the vibrant colours and earthy textures of rural Limpopo. Guests love the fusion of local cultures with luxury rooms, wi-fi, wholesome food and to relax in the Lapa next to the pool after an active day out on village-lifestyle tours. The golden thread of Limpopo's cultural heritage runs through our entire lodge, here guests get to see a collection of the best Limpopo CraftArt in our gallery, shop and textile studio. To experience Limpopo first-hand our village tours can be tailormade to suit guests’ interests, with the option to add fun, creative activities and cultural performances on tour, or at the lodge. Our well-informed staff stay on top of the regional buzz and keep good relationships with people in rural communities all the time. This gives our guests the best opportunity to experience the true gems on the far-off dust-roads of the unusual northern frontiers of South Africa. The Venda, Tsonga and Northern Sotho artists are renowned for their skills with wood, clay, textile and beads. We support 40 odd rural crafters with product development, production processes and marketing and love to show them off to our guests. Madi a Thavha is a 4-star-graded and Fair Trade-certified lodge and the proud owners of a TripAdvisor certificate of excellence for the past four years. We always host the most interesting guests too! The lodge is situated in a valley of the Soutpansberg Mountain 11 km west of Louis Trichardt on the R522-road going towards Mapungubwe, Botswana and Zimbabwe. The National Kruger Park’s Punda Maria-gate is about 160km east of us and the Pafuri gate about 230km east north. Cycling, hiking and exceptional birding can be done at the lodge and surrounding Northern Limpopo as well.
