Overview
DDidima Resort is located in the Cathedral Peak valley of the u Khahlamba Drankensberg Park, a World Heritage Site, Didima Resort is set in a Stunning mountain paradise bathed in scenic beauty with rivers, stream’s, waterfalls, grasslands and craggy cliffs. The resort is a 5-hour driver on the N3 form Johannesburg and 4 hours from Durban. The Resort's accommodation is uniquely style, symbolic of the dwellings of the San people who once lived in these mountains. Didima celebrates the now lost culture of the San people and captures something of their oneness with their environment. Their art has been accurately reproduced and can be viewed at the San Rock Centre as well as in small shelters found throughout the Park. The Cathedral Peak area is a hiker’s delight, offering routes ranging from a few hours on the mountain paths to several days of camping and adventure. The details of all 8 Didima’s walks are guided walks which ranges from 2-5 hours return is available at the Reception. While hiking, a wide selection of plants and animals can be seen in the extensive grasslands and forest patches characteristic of this part of the `Berg'. For the visitors less inclined to physical activity or whose time is limited, Mike's Pass provides an opportunity to drive to the top of the Little Berg near the head of Didima Gorge for spectacular views of the main escarpment and the surrounding lowlands. Didima Resort features 63 two-bed chalets, 2 four bed, luxury honeymoon suite and 1 six bed bungalow. Each of the two bed chalets are connected by an inter-leading doorway allowing the two chalets to be converted into a four bed family unit with self-catering facility. In addition Didima features two four-bed chalets with two bedrooms each en-suite, a lounge/dining area and one six-bed chalet with three bedrooms, a lounge/dining area and a kitchen. The resort also offers the Cathedral Peak Community Campsite with 30 camping and caravan sites with electricity that can accommodate a maximum of 6 people. The communal ablution facilities have toilets, hot showers, baths and a communal kitchen. Braai stands are available; with firewood and charcoal for sale at the Curio Shop Other accommodation are 12 caves that sleep a maximum of 4-12 people per cave that visitors may overnight. To experience this type of accommodation it is essential to book in advance through the resort. Do you dream of mountain wedding, Didima's Conference Centre is a venue that provides one of the most scenic venues for weddings and functions? This is the only resort within Ezemvelo that has got a chapel and conference centre in one place and that’s the reason why it hosts corporate meetings and weddings throughout the year. Didima Resort’s restaurant and bar provides guests with the option of fully catered meals in its warm and relaxed atmosphere. Didima Resort’s San Rock Art Centre, is a celebration of one of South Africa’s richest cultural heritages - the rock art of the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park. It provides insights into the art and culture of the San. The centre comprises a display hall, where visitors learn about who the uKhahlamba San people were and how they once lived, a preview room for a fireside story telling experience and an auditorium where visitors watch a screening of the audio visual presentation. Other activities that a visitor can enjoy while booked at Didima is to play the tennis and swim in the resort swimming pool.
