CCamdeboo Cottages is located in the heart of old Graaff-Reinet, on the corner of Bourke and Parliament Street, within walking distance of local attractions and facilities. Experience a piece of South Africa's history by staying in one of these cottages which have been declared national monuments. The unique and historical cottages have been lovingly restored, boasting original yellow-wood floors and reed ceilings together with modern amenities such as aircon, flat screen televisions with DSTV and free WIFI throughout. In 2016 an additional 7 en-suite rooms were added onto the property - all these rooms are en-suite with all mods cons such as Aircon, DSTV & free wifi. For individual travellers, families or groups, Camdeboo Cottages offers affordable accommodation in the historical heart of Graaff-Reinet. Breakfast & Dinner is also available upon requests - visit us in the Karoo & try our Karoo Lamb or Kudu Steak. Meals are enjoyed on the veranda around the swimming pool on in your cottage. Our breakfast buffet is served on the veranda next to the swimming pool. There are braai facilities available near the pool & secure parking behind an electronic gate. Tours are on offer to nearby highlights such as the Valley of Desolation or the Camdeboo National Park in our open Safari vehicle. Qualified Eastern Cape Tourguides are employed full time by Camdeboo Cottages in Graaff-Reinet, come & explore the Karoo. Camdeboo Cottages employ 10 staff full time & also hires in a qualified local Xhosa guide to do Umazisakhe Township Tours upon request. Liezel Bezuidenhout (Local Xhosa guide) has expanded her local Xhosa tour to include a visit to a Sangoma, a local kindergarden & ends the tour with a visit to the church she attends in Umazisakhe. Tea & coffee with freshly made roosterbrood are enjoyed at the priest home at the end of the Township Tour. Visitors love this experience & we encourage our visitors to support Liezel. Camdeboo Cottages strive to only buy local produce i.e. our Springbuck meat is delivered direct from a local farm, our meat is sourced from local butcheries & our fresh produce are delivered twice weekly We aim to save water & we recycle all our kitchen waste. Bottles, plastics & paper is given to the local recycling plant & all our food waste is given to a local pig farmer. Our staff are fluent in English & Afrikaans & enjoy engaging with the tourists. A few years ago they were all trained by a local computer company and are now proudly computer literate. We at Camdeboo Cottages aim to ensure all our visitors to Graaff-Reinet get to experience the true Karoo. Our information / tour desk in the reception area offer information about all there is to do & see in the surround area. We provide every guests with a map of Graaff-Reinet, indicating all the main attractions. Camdeboo Cottages is owner-managed & the personal interaction with the guests results in them enjoying themselves in Graaff-Reinet & in some cases we might even get guests to stay longer to enjoy more of the Karoo hospitality.
