You are only moments away

Whether you start in the north or south, prefer the morning salty breeze to the evening’s gentle sunset, walk, run, amble, stand or sit, Durban’s beachfront promenade has a golden mile of options.

The Durban Golden Mile is one of the most popular beachfront stretches in South Africa. Not only is the beach one of the best in the country, but the promenade is lined with fabulous restaurants selling beers, burgers, chicken and seafood.

Did You Know?
TThe first South African Surfing Championships took place in Durban in 1966.

FFor swimmers, both south and north beaches are fantastic for dipping, waves, surfing and bodyboarding. Parents with small kids will love the paddling pools, slides and fountains. There is also the Rachel Finlayson salt-water swimming pool. For snorkelling, Vetch's Pier in the south is the best. The sheltered region nearby is a favourite spot for kayakers, windsurfers, jet ski riders and stand up paddle boarders.
