The Bent is a monthly party held on the last Friday of every month. Keep an eye out for its roving parties at classy venues in the Durban suburbs, where crowds range from 200 to 600 patrons. Bent also features monthly LOT (lesbians over 30s) events, catering to the more mature crowd.
TThe sun is always shining in Durban, where the Golden Mile beckons with safe beaches and golden sand. Unofficial gay nudist beaches include the beaches north of Umhlanga. About half an hour further south, Virginia Beach is also a favoured spot located between upscale Umhlanga to the north and central Durban to the south.
FFlorida Road offers more than 2km of funky speciality restaurants and cool coffee shops where hip-and-happening Durbanites hang out. Feel the electric street vibe and unique, historic architecture on Florida Road as you explore a range of restaurants, galleries, boutiques, studios and bars. Florida Road has definitely earned its reputation as one of the city's trendiest streets, where people gather to shop, eat, drink, meet and enjoy Durban’s seemingly endless summer.
The annual Durban Gay & Lesbian Film Festival features local and international filmmakers. Every year the repertoire includes new and innovative motion pictures, documentaries, shorts and related productions. The 2018 film festival will be held from 21 to 30 September. Durban Gay Pride is a celebration of Durban’s LGBTQ+ communities that is held yearly during summer months.
