Akademie Street Boutique Hotel and Guest House

Overview
AAkademie Street Boutique Hotel and Guest House offers five-star accommodation in five unique buildings all situated on the same beautiful property in a quiet area of the village Franschhoek, in the heart of the Cape Winelands. There are four sun-kissed swimming pools and shady gardens where one can lie in privacy and listen to the splashing of the fountains, the song of the cicadas, the cooing of the Cape Doves ? sounds so evocative of the Cape Winelands.  This is coupled with the personal service that only a very small, family owned and managed, five-star guesthouse/boutique-hotel can give. From this retreat one can stroll to the village centre and its famous restaurants.  Historic wine farms, great golf courses, hiking, fly-fishing and riding are close by. We have three large, modern suites each with their own private entrance and three other unique private buildings each with its private entrance from the road and each with its own private garden and pool. A description of each follows: The three suites (They share a large solar heated pool and garden.) Uitsig (View) sleeps two in a king-size bed or, if previously requested, in twin three-quarter beds. The bath and shower are separate and French doors open onto a sun-baked balcony with a lovely view of the mountains.  This private, upstairs suite is wonderfully comfortable. Twyfeling (Doubting) is a gracious Cape Dutch style house with large living rooms and two large and light filled bedroom suites at opposite ends of the house both of which sleep two in a king-size bed or, if previously requested, in twin three-quarter beds.  Each suite is completely self-contained. The one suite in Twyfeling has a private conservatory area attached with views to the mountain and over the water trough fountain. The other suite in Twyfeling leads out to the pool garden and has a stunning, spacious, glass roofed bathroom. The three private buildings: Vreugde (Joy) sleeps two in a king-size bed or, if previously requested, in twin three-quarter beds.  The bath and shower are separate, there is a small kitchenette and French doors open onto a wide veranda with beautiful garden and small private pool.  One can lounge on the leather sofa on the porch listening to the birds and the singing of the fountain. This is a very intimate private place. Oortuiging (Conviction) is our 1860?s luxury cottage nestled under a giant white stinkwood tree.  It has two en-suite bedrooms, a lounge, a kitchen and a dining room.  It has its own small pool and private shade and sun gardens.  Oortuiging takes two in spacious luxury but can take a third person in the small second bed-room. Gelatenheid (Equanimity) is our largest (220 square metre) guesthouse - a double storey just for two.  The en-suite loft bedroom with king size bed, dressing and living room area opens onto an upstairs veranda with special views over the mountains and vineyards.  There is a romantic bath under the trees with a heated towel rail.  Downstairs there is a kitchen and a dining area overlooking a large pool and private garden.  All our prices are for the guesthouse (NOT per person) and include VAT, Franschhoek Tourism levy, generous breakfasts, welcoming bottle of Champagne, free drinks, telephone, inter-net / Wi-Fi and laundry.

It's the weekend, is your squad ready? Don’t just go on a safari and see the Big 5 get the whole experience and camp out at Kruger National Park. Maybe you’ve already stayed at one of the Kruger National Park’s many camps, but have you considered sleeping out in one of their overnight hides? The two hides – Sabie, near Phalaborwa Gate, and Shipandani, near Mopani Camp – are very basic but you’ll have a thrilling African bush experience. The Kruger National Park has accommodation suitable for all budgets, from camping to extreme luxury, but now there’s the wonderful opportunity to camp out in one of the park's overnight hides. Thank you @jessicampesino for the awesome snap. #MeetSouthAfrica #SouthAfrica #thisissouthafrica #exploresouthafrica #Travelgram #wanderlust #travelsouthafrica #safari #KrugerNationalPark #Big5 #CampingSafari

Champagne Sports Resort in the Central Drakensberg is the perfect venue for both business and leisure tourists. The resort is home to an 18-hole championship golf course, roaming herds of blesbok and impala and 5 dams stocked with trout and bass. It offers a variety of sports and cultural activities. This resort set in the tranquil surrounds of the Central Drakensberg, with magnificent views of Champagne Castle and Cathkin Peak, combines high-tech conferencing, luxury accommodation and first-rate leisure activities. BEST TIME TO VISIT The Drakensberg is a year-round destination - although it can be cool in winter, especially when there is snow on the mountains. The Victoria Street Market in Durban is unique in South Africa. Barrels of Indian spices and incense infuse the air of this flea market and a visit is essential for those who want to experience Durban's relaxed Afro-Oriental atmosphere and pick up some great bargains. The market is a melting pot of vibrancy and you’ll definitely walk out with a souvenir or two.
