AAvid travellers and readers of The Telegraph voted Cape Town as the best city in the world for the fourth consecutive year in the 2015-16 Telegraph Travel Awards. The highly-coveted award places the Mother City on the map as the most desirable metropolitan to reside in for its pristine beaches, beautiful landscapes and rich culture. Award-winning journalist and writer, Pippa de Bruyn agrees: “Cape Town has a cool urban edge, with excellent art galleries, hip bars, world-rated restaurants and design-savvy shops.”

Another great achievement for South Africa comes from businesswoman, Wendy Appelbaum who did the country proud at the 2016 Decanter World Wine Awards for her DeMorgenzon Chardonnay Reserve 2015. A panel of experts, including 26 Master Sommeliers, judged a selection of wines and ultimately named Wendy’s chardonnay as the best wine in the world in the Platinum: Best in Show Chardonnay category.

When it comes to fine dining, the Test Kitchen in Woodstock, Cape Town takes centre stage. The award-winning establishment was voted as the 22nd best restaurant in the world. Acclaimed chef Luke Dale-Roberts heads a team of cooks at this culinary gem that provides guests with an unforgettable dining experience. His win placed the Test Kitchen above top restaurants in countries including France, China and Spain. The La Colombe restaurant on Silvermist Estate, Cape Town, proved to be another top achiever, scooping the 76th place in the search for the best restaurant in the world.
