TThe expo, which is expected to attract 7 000 visitors over the two days, will feature more than 50 exhibitors in the travel and leisure industry. Visitors will be able to find first-hand information and advice on local and international holiday destinations, as well as great deals and exclusive offers.

South African Tourism will be hosting about 20 small tourism businesses at its stand as well as a number of emerging tour operators, and will be promoting an exciting range of special Sho’t Left package deals designed to ignite interest and curiosity among Holiday Expo visitors.

The tourism-related experiences that will be showcased fall into the broad categories of adventure sports, urban lifestyle experiences, sun-soaked coastal trips, vibrant cultural expeditions, scenic outdoor excursions, and wildlife and safari encounters.

“As the leading authority on the travel and tourism industry in South Africa, we are looking forward to showing would-be travellers some of the many tourism riches this wonderful country has to offer,” explains Sthembiso Dlamini Chief Operations Officer at South African Tourism.

“South African Tourism aims to attract five million extra tourists by 2021, which includes one million more trips by South Africans in their own country. Domestic travel showcases like the Holiday Expo will help us to kindle a culture of holiday travel among more South Africans, so that they can experience new and different things in their own country,” Dlamini says.

She adds that expo visitors will be pleasantly surprised to discover how affordable it can be to explore their own country.

Part of South African Tourism’s mandate is to empower and provide market access to smaller tourism players, and the Holiday Expo will give the 20 SMMEs a valuable platform to showcase and sell their offerings. Dlamini says that in this way, South African Tourism is playing an enabling role for these entrepreneurs and helping them on the road to success and sustainability. The participating SMMEs will also benefit from a thorough brand analysis, as well as a revised marketing and corporate identity strategy, to strengthen their respective brands and offerings.

The options available to South Africans planning leisure trips are endless, thanks to the country’s vast network of entrepreneurs who have seized the opportunity to develop eclectic and exciting holiday offerings. The Holiday Expo will shine a spotlight on a number of these go-getter businesses, inviting South Africans to come and sample the experiences they have to offer under one roof.

Tickets cost R70 for adults through iTickets, including a goodie bag, while children under 12 enter free. Visit www.holidayexpo.co.za, https://itickets.co.za or www.shotleft.co.za for more information.
