AAnother year has come and gone and with it, many lessons have been learned and challenges overcome.

There is no denying that the travel and tourism industry worldwide experienced numerous challenges. Tougher global economic climate has seen tourists curtail travel plans or take longer to decide on a holiday destination.

Here at home, the impact of the visa regulations on the sector dominated discussions but as always, the industry and other affected stakeholders managed to come together and through rigorous consultation, found working solutions.

As we look ahead to 2016, we are hopeful and optimistic about what the year holds. Despite challenges that may arise, we remain very hopeful that our allure as a destination will continue to draw people to South Africa.

I invite you to join us and complement our global and regional marketing initiatives by continuing to deliver on the ground what we promise the world. A destination that is scenically beautiful, exceptional service standards of our industry, and tourism infrastructure matched only by the warm welcome of our people.

I implore you too to support us also by participating at our Trade Shows, INDABA and Meetings Africa. Preparations for Africa’s biggest leisure and business tourism trade shows are already in full swing and all indications are that we are well on track to host successful shows.

Both Meetings Africa and INDABA are proudly rooted in South Africa but take the lead in putting Africa’s rich and vast tourism industry on the global stage.

We would like to thank each and every one of you for the support as we endeavour to get the world to #MeetSouthAfrica.

There is no question that without the incredible array of tourism products across the board or the inspiring commitment you show towards tourism in South Africa – we would not be able to undertake our marketing work.

Thank you and we look forward to working with you again this year.
