SSouth African Tourism is aware and have taken note of the comments made on social media by Ms Beryl Crosher-Segers and subsequent media interest in South Africa following the “Come Home Bru” event on 14 October in Sydney, Australia. These comments are unfortunate and does not reflect the objectives or support the end goal of the expat events.

South African Tourism is committed to upholding the constitution and promote all diverse cultures that prevail in South Africa. We are also confident that the brief given to the band was a true reflection of what South Africa stands for and representative of the entire country.

The South African Tourism team in Australia has been on a two week roadshow of Australia and New Zealand promoting the country to the travel and trade industry and showcasing what we have to offer as a country. Part of the roadshow was to have selected expat events to connect with South Africans residing in both Australia and New Zealand.

We strongly refute the claims that our team in Australia was rude and dismissive of the artists. We will however engage with Ms Beryl Crosher-Segers to address her concerns.
