2The Big Hole, Kimberley
You can’t miss the Big Hole of Kimberley, literally! Known as the largest man-made hole in the world, this incredible site is attributed to diamond fever in the Northern Cape during the late 1800’s.

Experience the sights and sounds of this incredible wild area at night when the nocturnal creatures are going about their business and the night-sky is crammed with stars.
4Diamond Coast Shipwreck Trail.
Take a guided 4x4 tour of the coastline between Koingnaas and Kleinzee, a restricted diamond mining area, and experience this rugged coast with its unusual wildlife and photogenic wrecks of ships from times gone by that ran aground here.
5Kimberley Mine Museum.
Step back in time at this world-class museum where you are taken back in time to the diamond rush era. Another highlight is the Belgravia Historical Walk that shows you the gracious Victorian homes of the 1800s.
6Star of the West, Kimberley
South Africa’s oldest continuously operating bar, it dates back to the 1870s and was declared a provincial heritage site in 1990. You have to stop for a refreshment or two here.
7Vintage Tram, Kimberley.
The Vintage Tram Kimberley dates back to a time when the town was the ‘bright lights, big city’ of Africa. Prospectors from the far corners made their way here during the 1870s diamond rush. Take a 20-minute ride around the Big Hole in the original tram.
