Ever dreamt of learning to play a marimba, mbira or djembe drum and have fun in an African music ensemble? Well, here is the chance you have been waiting for. Facilitators from the Music Department at the University of Pretoria are teaming up with the Joburg Promusica Theatre in Roodepoort to offer this unique opportunity to international guests, as well as local 2010 soccer supporters to join us for a fun teambuilding workshop session on African Music. The workshops will be presented under the capable leadership of Mr Michael Sibanda, a well-known marimba and djembe band leader in South Africa and Mr Richard Muranda, an expert on the mbira (finger piano). Anyone interested in music is welcome! Please note that you do not need any skills in music to take part in one of these sessions. Michael and Richard and their student team will effortlessly teach you in a jiffy how to play the African rhythms and songs.
