Enjoy fresh air, unbelievable sunsets and be entertained by the night call of the jackal and owls. This perfect country getaway with style and comfort is nestled in the picturesque and malaria free Modimolle in the Waterberg region and is approximately 130km north of Pretoria (1½ hrs drive) easily accessed by a tar road. Come retreat in solitude in a very well secured, safe and clean environment. At the end of the day guests can relax on their patio and anticipate the magnificent sunset; make a wood fire in their private lapa, watch the incredible night sky and savour the heady scents and wild night sounds of the bushveld. Guests can expect luxury accommodations and warm hospitality along with peace and quiet. From your private accommodation, wake to the sounds of birds singing in the spacious, stunning garden with swimming pool. This is a paradise for nature lovers. Nyl Retreat offers the guest a choice between the 2 luxuriously cottages and 5 thatched chalets that overlook the typical Waterberg bushveld. Each unit has been individually decorated and is equipped with quality mattresses, fine white linen and towels. Tea, coffee, rusks, soap, shampoo and body lotion are standard items in each unit. Facilities: Relax at the pool in this quiet and tranquil setting or take a walk in the beautiful garden and walking trail, or meet up with the hosts and talk about the history of Nylstroom. Solly and Rina love people and guests often become friends and return year after year. The two cottages share a Boma, which is perfect for a Traditional South African Braai around a Bonfire. The King Fischer call is a constant reminder of the rich birdlife of the bushveld and enthusiastic birdwatchers and nature lovers will have close encounters with birds. You will find hiking trails on the farm with Muffin as your guide. The abundant bird life adds to the charm. It's a wonderful hobby to walk about identifying trees and wild flowers. The units are serviced daily except on Christmas Day and New Year. Our Nyl Retreat Hosts andStaff welcoming you are: Sollie, who is the hard worker and supervisor of the Retreat and will most of the time welcomes you, is the day-to-day hands-on manager of the guesthouse and is always around, if you may require anything after hours. Rina (Solly’s wife) who handles the reservations and also makes sure that our guests have everything they might need. She also does all the run-around shopping and errand, as well as marketing. Laurene is the owner of our lovely Nyl Retreat and is the best CA in town. She handles the finances. Evelina is the room attendant and is just too pleased to organise your room to be as clean and comfortable as can be. She has been with us for some time now and is reliable, honest and very friendly. Stefaans and Sakkie are responsible for keeping the garden in such good form and will make sure that your braais are cleaned up. We also have 4 dogs and 3 cats – Gunter, Olga and Eva are the three German Sheppard’s and will be kept at the back of the main house. Muffin (the Jack Russell) is the boss! He is very popular with the guests and you may be lucky to receive a privileged visit from him. He usually come and greets the guests or asks for something to eat. Please tell him “huistoe”. No problem. Brutus is the smallest of the dogs but you will only see him on a distance. Spokie, Lucky and Dorkas are the cats and sweeties! They love getting attention. Please do not allow them in you rooms or feed them. Nyl Retreat is your home “away from home”, where it is all about quality and not quantity, and where we give you our full attention and treat you like family. Nothing is too much trouble. We van arrange anything that you might require during your stay with us .. just ask! Cottages Tarentaal & Kiewiet Cottages sleeps 4 R750per night These cottages sleeps a family of four and consists of a large open plan air conditioned sleeping area. The kitchen is fully equipped and has its own private braai area and a gas braai for breakfasts. These cottages has DSTV. The pool is unfenced; parents with children must please take note of this fact. Chalets The 5 country-styled thatched chalets are situated in a large garden with beautiful trees. The chalets are cosy, uniquely decorated with wooden furniture. Four of the chalets can accommodate two people per unit while the larger unit sleeps four. Each chalet has its own private braai and view. The chalets have a pool separate from the house and cottage. Secure parking is provided. Pool is unfenced; parents with children must please take note of this fact.
