Aardvark Burrow Lodge + Nature Reserve

The Aardvark Nature Reserve consists of 3400ha of pristine Succulent Little Karoo. This is a desert biome, with low winter rainfall. Vegetation is scrubveld with a stunning diversity of plant life, consisting of a large variety of succulents and other veld flowers. Even though it appears sparsely populated, it is alive with smaller creatures, ranging from rodents to mongooses, dassies, porcupines, honey badgers, Cape fox, caracal and the ever-present aardwolf and aardvark. Antelope species are represented by red hartebeest, kudu, springbok, duiker and steenbok. No less that 180 bird species have been recorded. The Aardvark Burrow is the lodge accommodation for the Aardvark Nature Reserve. It can accommodate 10 people in 5 spacious and well-appointed double rooms (all en suite). Traditional meals are provided. The lodge offers a diversity of activities to clients: 1.Several self-guided walking trails 2.Guided nature drives 3.Guided nature walks 4.Guided horse safaris 5.Self-guided mountain bike routes 6.Sleep-outs at the Rock Kestrel Campsite The Nature College is an accredited provider for Nature Training based on the reserve, and it supplies well-trained guides to conduct nature excursions. The Rock Kestrel Campsite offers a true wilderness experience. The rustic nature of the camp puts you in touch with nature, while soft comforts are still available, like a bush shower with hot water, soft beds etc. The tent camp is in the wilderness area of the reserve, offering incredible peace and tranquillity. Clients are accompanied by a qualified guiding team, who will share their love of nature with you, and care for you while sleeping out.
