Parker Cottage is in fact two grand Victorian cottages (Nos. 1 and 3 Carstens Street) designed by renowned Cape Town architect John Parker in 1895, now joined into one grand house. Parker is a social place but only as much as you want to be sociable. There are two guest lounges and a wonderful sunny veranda for breakfasts and our wine evenings – which occur twice a week and are totally free. Breakfast starts at eight and goes on until whenever: we like people to spend hours over breakfast. And there`s more: at Parker, we are striving to combine luxurious hospitality and accommodation with an active concern for the society and the environment. We want to show that luxurious accommodation does not have to cost the resources of the earth: by 2015, Parker aims to be ‘off-grid’ for water heating, electricity, water and sewage and recycling 90% of our waste. We are passionate about the people of this country and are involved in several social upliftment projects we personally manage or sponsor. We’re less than 8 minutes by car from the V&A Waterfront and less than 5 minutes on foot from trendy Kloof Street with its cafés, bars and boutiques.
