African Shades

B&B African Shades is a unique bed & breakfast located in the beautiful, historic town of Swellendam. Situated on the main road, right across from the Drostdy Museum, it is the perfect location from where to explore the town. Expect a warm welcome, clean, spacious rooms, super comfortable beds and luxurious cotton percale linen. We offer six en-suite rooms (four twin rooms, one family cottage and one luxury King-size room). All our rooms are located away from the main road, have separate entrances and private patios. Our swimming pool has stunning mountain views and offers welcome relief for those hot, summer days. In the morning we serve a full breakfast, either on the restaurant’s garden terrace in summer or inside the restaurant by the fireplace in winter. African Shades is the only 3 star graded Bed & Breakfast in Swellendam with the AA “Superior” grading. Arts & Crafts At African Shades, we offer the best of modern and traditional South African crafts and designs. Hand painted ethnic wall hangings and table cloths, glass and beaded jewellery, recycled metal sculptures and African embroidery to name but a few of the beautiful items in our shop. With excellent product knowledge we insure that your experience in our Arts & Crafts shop will be memorable. We also proudly support various community projects from across the country. Colourful, unique and inspiring! Restaurant Our restaurant is shaded under large oak trees and overlooks the Langeberg Mountains. Open for breakfast and lunch, this is the ideal spot for a quick refreshment stop. We serve a selection of baked goods & desserts, light meals, sandwiches & salads. Also on our menu: our very unique Crocodile Burgers! Using only the freshest available ingredients, we ensure that every plate of food looks and tastes great! Our bar is always well stocked with ice cold beers & local wine.
