I would like to introduce you to my home grown charity group, The Ruth Mailbag Group Ruth from the biblical compassionate friend and Mailbag as all donations can be mailed to where they are needed. I started this group 9 years ago when I decided to donate the items I hand crafted to our local provincial hospital. They were all too happy to accept them. Many of these little darlings only have the hospital nappy to wear. Don't these precious gifts from God deserve something beautiful to wear? Some of my friends heard what I was doing and they too started donating their hand crafted items to local charities. The Ruth Mailbag Group selects a charity to deliver donations generously and lovingly created by crafters across town that sew, crochet, knit or quilt. For the benefit of those who would like to help but feel they are crafting-challenged, we will be delighted to accept bought and gently used goodies. Needs: - Volunteers to knit, crochet, sew, quilt or buy and donate blankets, clothes, food and toys. Should you be interested in helping The Ruth Mailbag Group please send your donations c/o Foto First, Murchison Street, Ladysmith, South Africa The most important issue we deal with is poverty especially from HIV and Aids which results in child headed households, granny headed households and orphans. We do not accept cash donations preferring to receive hand made or bought items. This is a group of volunteers, there are no salaries or compensations paid and all gifts are gifted to the recipients free of charge. The members use their own equipment although we do receive small donations of wool and fabric which is given to those members who cannot afford to purchase wool or fabric to craft with. So there you have it. Are you ready to be a part of this group? Be prepared to be caught up in the excitement of helping those less fortunate than you or I.
