Cape Town’s beaches offer a real relationship with nature and are very much a part of our everyday lives. Beyond summer sunbathing, they are our year-round backyard for walking, exploring, water sports and childhood adventures, and many are perfect lookout points for winter whale watching. – Enver Duminy, CEO of Cape Town Tourism

What’s not to love about Cape Town’s gorgeous Camps Bay beach? Situated on the Atlantic seaboard and at the foot of the Twelve Apostles mountain range, this pristine beach is popular with local and international tourists and is known as one of the Mother City’s finest beaches. And users of TripAdvisor agree.

Camps Bay was awarded 24 th place in the 'Top 25 Beaches in the World' category in the recent Travelers' Choice Awards for 2014. It held its own among some pretty stiff competition, making its mark in a list that includes Baia do Sancho in Brazil (in first place); Grace Bay in the Turks and Caicos Islands (number two); and Flamenco Beach in Puerto Rico (third spot).

In addition, Cape Town's Camps Bay, Clifton, Boulders Beach and Bloubergstrand were voted among Africa’s best beaches, again among some pretty strong competition from the beaches of the Indian Ocean islands.

Enver Duminy, CEO of Cape Town Tourism, says of the accolade: 'Cape Town’s beaches offer a real relationship with nature and are very much a part of our everyday lives. Beyond summer sunbathing, they are our year-round backyard for walking, exploring, water sports and childhood adventures, and many are perfect lookout points for winter whale watching.’

Camps Bay is the perfect playground for those who love the outdoors, and is very popular with families, fashionistas and sports-lovers alike. Opposite Camps Bay beach is a popular entertainment strip with excellent coffee shops, restaurants and bars.

Cape Town is home to eight Blue Flag beaches: Camps Bay, Bikini Beach, Clifton Fourth Beach, Llandudno, Mnandi beach, Muizenberg, Silwerstroomstrand and Strandfontein beach.
