Local travellers and international holidaymakers will soon recognise the Tsogo Sun brand to represent fun, entertainment and friendly South African hospitality.

On Wednesday, 18 April 2012, it was announced to the media that Tsogo Sun Holdings (TSH) would consolidate all its divisions under one clear identity and brand: Tsogo Sun.

Some of South Africa’s best loved hotels and gaming establishments including Suncoast Casino, Gold Reef City, Silverstar Casino, the Sandton Sun, Montecasino and hospitality brands such as Southern Sun, Garden Court, Formula One and StayEasy will all be represented as one focused identity.

Chief Executive Officer for Tsogo Sun, Marcel von Aulock says: ‘Our scale has changed and we now have a distribution of casino and hotel products that touches many thousands of consumers’ lives every day through our 14 casinos, 95 hotels, and related restaurant and entertainment offerings. Our portfolio enables us to achieve our aim of providing the greatest variety of quality hospitality, entertainment and leisure experiences.’

The well-loved Southern Sun brand (previously the brand for the hotel division of Tsogo Sun, and Tsogo Sun Gaming), has been incorporated into the Tsogo Sun identity, however Southern Sun will remain as a hotel brand for premier hotels within the Tsogo Sun portfolio.

Tsogo Sun will be embarking on a vibrant marketing campaign to create awareness over the next few months. Rob Collins, Chief Marketing Officer says, ‘This will enable us to fully leverage and properly position our key intangible assets, namely our brands, under the proudly South African Tsogo Sun brand.’

Collins says the name and identity of the company is totally unique, citing that Tsogo means ‘resurrection’ or ‘new life’ in Setswana. 'The new logo, comprising the Tsogo name and the Sunburst insignia taken from the historical Southern Sun logo, visually accentuates the company’s strength, variety, presence and footprint, and represents a uniquely African identity that is steeped in heritage’, he said.
