One&Only Spa Cape Town crowned top spa in Africa
My team and I were over the moon when we got the news that we were announced the 2013 winners of the World Spa and Wellness Award for the Best Spa in Africa. This is the second year in a row we have received this award, so we were eagerly waiting to hear the result.’ – Rosy Larsen, One&Only Spa Cape Town manager.
This is high praise indeed for the spa team led by manager Rosy Larsen, which passed the rigorous standards imposed by a panel of expert judges. The process included a visit from both an official judge and a mystery judge.
The awards took place at a gala dinner at the London Hilton on Park Lane on 24 February 2013.
An ecstatic Larsen said the award is indication of strong consistency in an industry where standards tend to fluctuate.
‘My team and I were over the moon when we got the news that we were announced the 2013 winners of the World Spa and Wellness Award for the Best Spa in Africa. This is the second year in a row we have received this award, so we were eagerly waiting to hear the result. It means so much to us as we were up against strong competition in our category,' said Larsen.
The One&Only Spa Cape Town beat three other South African spas that made it on to the shortlist – the Angsana Spa at the Vineyard Hotel & Spa in Cape Town; the Pezula Spa & Gym in Knysna; and The Spa at The Oyster Box in Umhlanga.
'It means a great deal to us winning the award as it will highlight our spa as the spa to be at in Africa – where one will receive the best service, signature treatments and overall experience. It will encourage us also to try nab the acclaimed award for 2014 and continue striving for excellence,’ said Larsen.
The award is one of many accolades presented to the One&Only Spa Cape Town since its inception four years ago. The facility, which occupies its own waterside island at the V&A Waterfront hotel, is dedicated to keeping up with new methodologies and products.
